Making ground-breaking discoveries and advancing cancer research
Massey’s researchers and physician-scientists conduct lab, translational, clinical and population sciences research to discover better ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and control cancer. More than 240 of these researchers are members of our preeminent research membership program, which is for those whose primary academic interests relate to cancer. These research members are also faculty members affiliated with 38 departments in three colleges and four schools at VCU.
Preeminent research programs
Harnessing our research members’ intellectual curiosity and scientific expertise, we have three core programs through which they collaborate to conduct cancer research:
Cancer Biology
Unraveling the causes of the growth and spread of cancer and identifying key interactions between tumors and their microenvironment.
Cancer Prevention and Control
Enhancing quality of life through the prevention, detection, treatment and control of cancer.
Developmental Therapeutics
Discovering new insights into the mechanisms of new and established anti-cancer agents.
