You and your primary physician

You, as a cancer survivor, must look out for your health. It’s very important to be your own advocate.  It's very important to have your primary care physician be a partner in your healthcare. A family physician is one who is going to look globally at your health and help remind you of all the different things that need to happen to promote survivorship.

The following presentation, "You and Your Primary Care Doctor Working Together," by Mary Helen Hackney, M.D., associate professor of hematology-oncology at VCU Massey Cancer Center and breast cancer and prevention and survivorship expert, addresses the role of the primary care doctor in reducing risk of cancer recurrence.
