Leading cancer researchers from VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center will present at this year’s annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), which will be held April 17-22 in San Diego. More than 70 representatives of Massey and VCU will share their findings and experiences at the conference.
“Massey has become a recognizable force against cancer on the national stage because of our groundbreaking research presented at international conferences like AACR," said Monica L. Baskin, Ph.D., interim director of Massey. “At these meetings we are partnering with best-in-class researchers from top tier cancer centers with one goal in mind: reducing the burden of cancer. It's empowering to know that Massey is guiding these conversations and creating meaningful change on an international level.”
The 2026 theme, “Precision, Partnership, Purpose: Advancing Cancer Science to Save Lives Globally," reflects the extraordinary advances in cancer research, as well as the expected impacts for patients across the globe. The meeting’s scientific program highlights cutting-edge science across the cancer research continuum to foster interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration, and to emphasize research that has clinical and global relevance.
The AACR Annual Meeting is the focal point of the cancer research community, where scientists, clinicians, other health care professionals, survivors, patients, and advocates gather to share the latest advances in cancer science and medicine. From population science and prevention; to cancer biology, translational, and clinical studies; to survivorship and advocacy; the AACR Annual Meeting highlights the work of the best minds in cancer research from institutions all over the world.
Some of the Massey experts who will be presenting at the meeting include:
- Robert A. Winn, M.D., director and Lipman Chair in Oncology
