About the Tissue and Data Acquisition and Analysis Shared Resource
The Tissue and Data Acquisition and Analysis (TDAAC) Shared Resource maintains a repository of high-quality, patient-derived cancer specimens by using best practice collection methodologies, and provides histopathological services to researchers at VCU. The Resource assists Massey members by acquiring fresh-frozen tissue specimens of various cancer types to meet research needs at VCU, as well as fresh tissue for the development of patient-derived xenografts (PDX). The TDAAC plans to begin collecting matched blood specimens for each fresh-frozen tissue sample enrolled in the biorepository in late 2025. Additionally, the TDAAC actively partners with Massey’s Systems Development and Data Analytics team, and the Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research, to provide researchers with robust clinical annotations for repository specimens. The Resource offers standard histology services, such as tissue grossing, processing, and embedding, develops tissue microarrays (TMAs), and provides automated immunohistochemistry, hyperplex immunofluorescence, and hyperplex in-situ hybridization. Quantitative pathology services such as imaging and analysis are also available.
