Research description
My lab is interested in understanding how cells cope with and resolve proteotoxic stress. We focus on the cytoprotective transcription factor Nrf1 that is activated by proteotoxic stress caused by inhibition of the proteasome. Using cultured cancer cells and preclinical cancer models in mice, our studies are aimed at testing the model that inhibition of the Nrf1 pathway can potentiate the action of proteasome inhibitor drugs. We primarily utilize breast cancer and ewing sarcoma cell lines and xenograft models in mice.
